Frequent flyers can now quickly secure valuable points

The end-of-year rush is underway, and many frequent flyers want to maintain their Lufthansa Frequent Traveller or even Senator status, or achieve it for the first time. This year, there are some particularly interesting opportunities to do so, as several promotions are running at the same time and can be easily combined.
1. Convert miles into status points
Anyone who has used a Miles and More credit card can exchange award miles for status points.
This only works in fixed packages. Examples:
5,000 miles earns 20 points plus 20 qualifying points
10,000 miles earns 40 points plus 40 qualifying points
25,000 miles earns 100 points plus 100 qualifying points
A maximum of 25,000 miles can be converted per year. This method is particularly attractive for anyone who has accumulated a lot of credit card spending and does not want to book any additional flights.
2. Collect points via the Uptrip app
With the Uptrip app from Lufthansa, you can collect status points retroactively. To do this, simply scan your boarding pass in the app. This is particularly worthwhile if you are only a few points away from the next status level.
3. Cheap short-haul flights
Flights within Europe earn 20 points per direction in Economy Class.
In November and December, Eurowings is offering particularly low-cost tickets from Germany. Many routes are priced at around 25 to 60 euros. This is a quick and easy solution for missing points.
4. Very short long distances as an insider tip
Short-haul flights with Aegean Airlines are a particularly interesting option.
Flights such as Athens to Tel Aviv take just under two hours and still earn you 200 points each way.
Prices in December are often just over €200. This is one of the most efficient ways to quickly earn a lot of points.
5. Earn points through CO2 compensation
The Lufthansa CO2 Compensation Tool allows you to collect qualifying points without actually flying. Depending on the route, a qualifying point costs around one euro.
This is cheaper than almost any traditional status run and also significantly more environmentally friendly.
The points from compensation count in full toward the annual ranking.
6. Extend status by making a payment
If there is no time left, Lufthansa offers a direct extension.
Extending Frequent Traveller status costs €625 or 80,000 miles.
Extending Senator status costs €2,500 or 300,000 miles.
This option is particularly worthwhile for frequent flyers who regularly use lounge access, extra baggage allowance, or fast track.
Conclusion
If you still need status points, you can collect them very efficiently by exchanging miles, offsetting CO2 emissions, taking advantage of cheap flights within Europe, or flying short long-haul routes. For many people, combining several methods is the best solution.
